Specimen Requirements 
Container Sterile plastic container
Specimen Type Respiratory (BAL, Bronchial Brushings, Bronchial Washings, Lung Tissue, PSB) Source of specimen is required.
Preferred Collection Volume 5 - 10 mL
Minimum Collection Volume 1 mL
Collection Instructions Collect sample in a sterile, leak - proof container. Place each specimen in a separate, individually sealed bag.
Specimen Handling Stability (collection to initiation of testing): ambient: 2hrs; refrigerated: 24 hrs; frozen: unacceptable.
Rejection Criteria Swabs; Nonsterile or leaking containers, specimens in viral transport media.
