Description Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) Is performed to detect the ALK gene rearrangements, most commonly observed in anaplastic large cell lymphoma and lung cancer.

Rejection Criteria Cases without H&E slide.
Methodology A dual color fluorescentlabeled DNA probe for the ALK gene, at chromosome band 2p23, Is hybridized to unstained interphase nuclei on a slide. 100-200 cells are evaluated to determine whether the signals are rearranged.
