Collection Instructions Patient Prep: For seven days before collection and during collection the following items should be avoided; non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin (if ingesting more than one adult aspirin per day). Acetaminophen (Tylenol) can be taken. For 3 days before collection and during collection, the following items should be avoided: vitamin C supplements in excess of 250mg per day, citrus juices, citrus fruits, and red meats.
Specimen Handling 5 g aliquot of stool in a clean unpreserved stool transport vial. Stability (collection to initiation of testing): ambient: 1 hr; refrigerated: 36 hrs; frozen: 3 days
