Specimen Requirements 
Container Lavender (EDTA) collection tube
Specimen Type Peripheral blood, bone marrow, tissue, paraffin block
Preferred Collection Volume 1 mL
Minimum Collection Volume 0.5 mL
Collection Instructions For tissue: 5x5x5 mm or 500 mg of tissue. Tissue must be frozen within 1 hr of collection. Send on dry ice or 5 FFPE slides @ 10-micron each
Specimen Handling Specimens must arrive within 72 hrs of collection unless FFPE. If available, a hematopathology report and H&E slide should accompany the specimen.
Peripheral Blood: 1 mL blood in EDTA. Send specimen at room temperature or with cold pack.
Bone Marrow: 1 mL blood in EDTA. Send specimen at room temperature or with cold pack.
Tissue: 5x5x5 mm or 500 mg of tissue, frozen within 1 hour of collection. Send on dry ice.
Paraffin Block or Unstained Slides: Formalin fixed only; not B-5 fixed

Rejection Criteria B5 fixed tissue. Clotted peripheral blood or bone marrow. Thawed tissue specimen. Specimens drawn in heparin will be rejected due to heparin's inhibitory nature to Taq Polymerase.
